Annual Senior Citizen Appreciation Day – was Initiated by the late President Ronald Reagan in 1988, and occurs each year on August 21st. We are encouraged to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions our Seniors have made and continue to contribute to their community and country.
Seniority Services serves collaboratively with community organizations to celebrate our Seniors!
The Seniority Award – is presented each year to a Senior Citizen for his or her lifelong contribution to the community. The 2014 award was presented posthumously for the late Rev. Alma Peterson to her daughter, Mrs. MaryAnn Markarian.
To nominate someone for consideration for the 2015 Seniority Award, please send us an email. Let us know a bit about the nominee. The contributions and character of the individual and why you would like to honor him or her. Your nominee will receive a certificate acknowledging your appreciation. “Adopt A Senior” Neighborhood Awareness and Care Program – in conjunction with community groups, churches and civic organizations, we identify Seniors who otherwise might be isolated, neglected or under-served.
Resource Materials addressing the needs of the chronically ill, elderly and their caregivers – there is hope and there is help. You are not alone.
Seminars for equipping and networking – Proactive preparation before a challenging season. When we are prepared for some of the “what if’s” in life, we are more confident of our decisions and choices. There are situations that are unforeseen and addressing crisis times with a support system is helpful. Networking, awareness of community resources is a valuable part of the process. Sometimes as the care recipient, it is difficult to express the challenges and Seniority Services is an added part of the support system.
Caregiver Support – Caring for You As You Care for Them — When you are a caregiver, it is challenging to take a break, but necessary. Seniority Services comes along side to prepare you before, during and after the caregiving journey. Everyone needs a “safe place” to share the burden; lighten the load and gain strength for the journey. Networking for community resources; establishing a “support buddy”; information and referral are some of the ways we let caregivers know, that we’re here for them.
